Bacon Tempura

2 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon kosher salt

¼ cup ice cold club soda

10 pieces of bacon

1 teaspoon hot sauce (we use Dat’l sauce)

½ cup Ranch Dressing

¼ cup good Barbeque sauce (hot or medium or mild – your choice)

  1. Make batter by combining flour, peppers, salt and club soda.  Using a flat whisk, combine ingredients until they make a pancake-like batter.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch Oven or a Deep Fryer to 375 degrees.
  3. Dip bacon slices into batter and turn until well-coated.  Fry in hot oil until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes, turning once.
  4. Serve immediately with premade dip.
